What You'll Do at arenaflex
As a Senior Data Scientist on our Analytics team, you'll be embedded within cross-functional teams, collaborating closely with product managers, engineers, business leaders, and other stakeholders. Your work will span the full analytics lifecycle—from identifying business questions and designing analysis approaches to building dashboards, presenting findings, and influencing strategic decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Quantitative Analysis & Insight Generation: Apply advanced statistical techniques and quantitative analysis to uncover trends, patterns, and correlations in large datasets. Go beyond the numbers to understand the "why" behind the data and translate findings into clear, actionable business recommendations.
- Full-Cycle Analytics Projects: Design and execute end-to-end analytics initiatives, including defining metrics, building experiments, developing reports, and creating executive-facing dashboards that track progress against strategic goals.
- Statistical Modeling & Experimentation: Lead A/B testing and hypothesis validation efforts using statistical methods such as regression analysis, time series analysis, cohort analysis, and hypothesis testing. Ensure rigorous experimental design and statistically valid conclusions.
- Data Infrastructure Collaboration: Partner with engineering teams to implement, validate, and monitor data logging, pipeline optimization, and data quality assurance. Ensure our data infrastructure supports scalable, reliable analytics.
- Mentorship & Team Development: Coach and mentor junior data scientists and analysts on advanced analytical methods, problem-solving frameworks, and best practices. Foster a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
- Business Partnership: Provide actionable insights to product and business leaders that help them understand marketplace dynamics, customer behavior, competitive landscape, and long-term growth trends.
- Proactive Opportunity Identification: Anticipate challenges and identify emerging opportunities by monitoring key performance indicators, forecasting trends, and recommending data-driven solutions to move critical metrics.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work across multiple teams including Product, Engineering, Marketing, Operations, and Finance to drive alignment and ensure analytics insights are integrated into decision-making processes.
What We're Looking For

Essential Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree or higher in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Physics, or a related quantitative field. Advanced degrees are a plus but not required.
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 4+ years of experience in data analysis, data science, business analytics, consulting, or a related role. Experience in a technology, marketplace, or e-commerce environment is highly desirable.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency in SQL for complex querying and data extraction, along with experience using statistical programming languages such as Python, R, or similar. Familiarity with ETL processes and data pipeline optimization is essential.
- Statistical Expertise: Deep experience with statistical analysis methods including A/B testing, hypothesis testing, regression models, time series analysis, cohort analysis, and experiment design. Comfortable working with statistical packages and libraries.
- Data Visualization: Experience with business intelligence and visualization tools such as Looker, Tableau, Chartio, or similar platforms. Ability to create clear, compelling visualizations that drive action.
- Analytical Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to take ambiguous business problems and structure them into analytical frameworks. You should be comfortable working with incomplete information and iteratively refining your approach.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, business-oriented language for diverse audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in a quantitative discipline
- Experience with marketplace dynamics, two-sided platforms, or logistics/supply chain analytics
- Knowledge of machine learning techniques and predictive modeling
