We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our Data & Analytics team. This is a remote position that offers the flexibility to work from the comfort of your home while contributing to groundbreaking projects that shape the future of digital entertainment.

Position Overview


As a Senior Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will play a critical role in designing, building, and maintaining our data infrastructure. You will be responsible for creating robust ETL/ELT data pipelines, designing and implementing database schemas, tables, and views, and orchestrating batch processes using Apache Airflow across multiple projects. This position requires a deep understanding of cloud-based data architectures and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

You will work closely with our Studios and Product Innovation teams on various activities including data requirements gathering, data validation scripting and review, developing and testing ETL/ELT pipelines, designing and implementing database diagrams, and deploying solutions across multiple environments such as Development, QA/UAT, and Production.

Key Responsibilities



  • Pipeline Development: Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines using modern data engineering tools and frameworks

  • Database Architecture: Create and implement database schemas, tables, views, and relationships optimized for performance and analytics

  • Process Orchestration: Build and manage batch processing workflows using Apache Airflow for various projects and data domains

  • Cloud Infrastructure: Work with cloud-based technologies, primarily AWS, to build and maintain data lakes and data warehouses

  • Data Quality: Implement data validation and quality assurance processes to ensure data integrity across all pipelines

  • Collaboration: Partner with Studios and Product Innovation teams to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs

  • Cross-Environment Deployment: Deploy and validate solutions across Development, QA/UAT, and Production environments

  • Best Practices: Drive best practices around data engineering software development processes, including code reviews, documentation, and testing

  • Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize pipeline performance to ensure efficient processing of large datasets

  • Technology Evaluation: Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools that can improve our data infrastructure

Required Qualifications & Skills


Educational Background



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field

Technical Experience



  • 3+ years of experience in a Data Engineering role

  • 2+ years of experience with SQL (writing complex queries, optimization, and performance tuning)

  • 2+ years of experience designing, building, and maintaining ETL/ELT data pipelines

  • 2+ years of experience with cloud-based technologies, preferably AWS (including S3)

  • 2+ years of experience managing a cloud platform

  • 2+ years of experience working with data lakes, data warehouses, and application databases

  • 2+ years of experience designing and building relational databases

  • 2+ years of experience using Gitlab/Github for version control

  • 2+ years of experience using Docker for containerization

  • Experience working with large datasets and big data technologies, preferably cloud-based (Snowflake, Databricks, or similar)

Technical Proficiency



  • Programming Languages: SQL, Python

  • Version Control: Gitlab/Github

  • Workflow Orchestration: Apache Airflow

  • Cloud Platforms: AWS S3 and related services

  • Databases: Relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.)

  • Data Warehousing: Snowflake

  • BI/Analytics: Looker (preferred)

  • Containerization: Docker

Preferred Qualifications



  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field

  • Experience with Apache Airflow, Snowflake, and Looker

  • Experience in streaming, media, or digital marketing domain

  • Experience with Apache Spark/Databricks

  • Knowledge of real-time data processing frameworks

  • Familiarity with machine learning data pipelines

  • Experience in the entertainment or media industry
