Position Overview: Information Researcher – Real World Evidence (RWE)
We are currently seeking a talented and motivated Information Researcher – Real World Evidence to join our Clinical Data Science division. This is a part-time position offering competitive compensation of $27/hour with flexible remote work arrangements available for qualified candidates located in the New York area.
In this critical role, you will be responsible for generating Real World Evidence through advanced research methodologies and innovative approaches within the clinical trials space. You will serve as an integral member of our Scientific Issues team, working to influence both internal and external decision-making through the use of creative data science and technology solutions. This position reports directly to the Chief of Clinical Data Science and offers significant opportunities for professional growth and skill development.

Key Responsibilities
As an Information Researcher – Real World Evidence at arenaflex, you will undertake a diverse range of responsibilities that contribute to our mission of advancing healthcare through data-driven insights:
- Data Mining and Preparation: Mine raw datasets to deliver normalized, analysis-ready patient cohorts from in-house data resources or licensed platforms. You will analyze and interpret results, ultimately shaping our overall analysis strategy and ensuring the highest quality outputs for stakeholder decision-making.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with various members of the arenaflex Clinical Trial team to deliver meaningful insights from real-world, clinical, and other data sources. Your work will support biopharmaceutical RWE and clinical trial requests, including investigations of unmet medical needs, safety and efficacy profiles in specific disease states, treatment patterns, healthcare economic burden, and cost-effectiveness modeling.
- Data Infrastructure Development: Clean, transform, and store data into a structured data lake environment for future analysis and broader team utilization. You will ensure data integrity, accessibility, and adherence to best practices in healthcare data management.
- Statistical Analysis and Modeling: Perform sophisticated data mining and statistical analysis to examine RWE/Real World Data (RWD) and discover new insights regarding patient populations and treatment outcomes. This includes developing predictive models, conducting survival analyses, and applying advanced statistical techniques to complex healthcare datasets.
- Capability Building: Support the development of real-world data, analytics, and platform capabilities within the organization. Apply advanced analytics and tools to address scientific inquiries from biopharmaceutical clients, contributing to our reputation as a leader in RWE generation.
- Research Study Execution: Collaborate on the design and execution of outcomes research studies, ensuring methodological rigor and alignment with regulatory and scientific standards.
- Quality Assurance and Reporting: Ensure high-quality, rigorous, and readily interpretable outputs from RWE reviews and investigations. Build dashboards, analyses, and comprehensive reports for both internal and external stakeholder consumption.
- Vendor Assessment: Conduct due diligence on new real-world data providers and vendors, driving RWD quality assessments to inform investment decisions and partnership opportunities.
Essential Qualifications & Requirements
To succeed in this role, candidates must demonstrate the following required qualifications and competencies:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Data Science, Public Health, or a related quantitative discipline. Advanced degrees are preferred but not required.
- Programming Expertise: Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with programming languages including R, Python, or SQL. Proficiency in at least one of these languages is required, with demonstrated ability to write efficient, reproducible code.
- Statistical Analysis Experience: Experience designing and executing robust and reproducible statistical analyses within the context of epidemiology and observational research using healthcare data. Familiarity with causal inference methods and advanced statistical modeling techniques is essential.
- Statistical Methods Knowledge: Strong foundation in common statistical testing methodologies, including generalized linear models, classification and regression, decision trees, unsupervised learning, time series analysis, and survival analysis.
- Big Data Handling: Proven experience processing large-scale data from multiple disparate data sources. Comfort working with complex, high-dimensional datasets common in healthcare analytics.
- Data Privacy Compliance: Experience handling protected patient health information (PHI) with strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and other privacy requirements. Familiarity with data anonymization and de-identification techniques is highly valued.
- Business Intelligence Tools: Knowledge of at least one of the following: Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Spotfire, or other business intelligence and visualization tools for dashboard development and reporting.
Preferred Qualifications & Additional Skills
Candidates with the following additional qualifications and skills will be particularly well-suited for this position:
- Healthcare Data Expertise: Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR)/Health IT systems, disease registries, and insurance claims databases. Understanding of healthcare data ecosystems and patient journey mapping.
- Clinical Data Standards: Familiarity with clinical data standards, clinical terminologies, and controlled vocabularies used in healthcare data and ontologies, including ICD-9/ICD-10 and Read Codes.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Experience with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and/or regulatory compliance guidelines for real-world evidence studies or clinical trials, including ISO standards, Medical Device Directive (MDD)/Medical Device Regulation (MDR), and Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) requirements.
- Alternative Data Sources: Experience working with alternative data sources and alternative methods for clinical data collection, particularly those enabled by technology platforms and digital health solutions.
- Advanced Methodologies: Knowledge of clinical trial design, Bayesian modeling, sequential analysis, and computational statistics. Experience with adaptive trial designs and innovative statistical approaches.
- Machine Learning Proficiency: Solid understanding of machine learning techniques and their application to healthcare data problems. Ability to stay current with emerging methodologies and continuously expand technical and non-technical skill sets.
