What You'll Do as a Ramp Specialist

As a Ramp Specialist, you'll play a vital role in our day-to-day operations, handling the critical tasks that ensure baggage, freight, and cargo reach their intended destinations safely and on time. This is a hands-on, physical role that requires stamina, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety above all else. Here's what you can expect:

Core Responsibilities

• Safe Loading and Unloading: You'll be responsible for the safe lifting, loading, dumping, and transporting of baggage, mail, and freight to and from aircraft. Your precision and care ensure that every item arrives at its destination without damage.


• Aircraft Movement: You'll assist with on-time connections by directing both incoming and outgoing aircraft to and from gate positions, playing a crucial role in maintaining our schedule integrity.


• Cargo Protection: You'll safeguard freight, baggage, and mail from damage, loss, and adverse weather conditions, ensuring that our customers' belongings arrive in pristine condition.


• Ground Equipment Operation: You'll safely drive and operate ground equipment including tugs, belt loaders, and tow tractors in congested areas, following all safety protocols and guidelines.


• Baggage Handling: You'll repeatedly lift and load baggage onto trucks, ensuring that each bag reaches its correct destination through careful attention to detail and accurate routing.


• Technology Utilization: You'll work with baggage scanning equipment and computer systems to ensure that items and freight are correctly routed to each passenger's destination.

Working Conditions

This role is physically demanding and requires you to work in various conditions. You'll be expected to perform tasks involving bending, stooping, turning, standing, and walking throughout your shift. The work is repetitive, including loading and stacking bags, working in confined spaces, and kneeling in aircraft bins for extended periods. Additionally, you'll occasionally work in harsh weather conditions including extreme heat, rain, snow, and other environmental factors. This role requires physical stamina and a positive attitude regardless of the conditions.

Schedule and Compensation

Ramp Specialists are scheduled to work between 20 to 40 hours per week, with shifts that may include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. What You Need to Succeed

• Physical Capabilities: Ability to frequently lift bags or items weighing up to and including 50 pounds.


• Enhanced Physical Capability: Ability to occasionally lift bags or items weighing between 50 and 70 pounds.


• Flexible Scheduling: Ability to work a fixed as well as rotating schedule including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays in all weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, previous experience in logistics, warehousing, or airport operations can be beneficial. Experience operating heavy equipment or ground support vehicles is also a plus. However, what matters most is your attitude, work ethic, and willingness to learn.
