About the arenaflex Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship Program

arenaflex is proud to invest in and champion an "earn while you learn" Pharmacy Technician training program recognized by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and the Department of Labor. This apprenticeship program provides you with an entry point to a career in healthcare by guiding you through the steps toward becoming a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certified Pharmacy Technician.

We'll support you in attaining the high level of skill required in the pharmacy care industry, arming you with a nationally recognized, portable credential that will help you advance your career for years to come. Through our comprehensive training, you'll gain both foundational and advanced knowledge, skills, and on-the-job experiences needed to prepare you for success as a licensed pharmacy technician.

By completion of the arenaflex Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship Program, your experience qualifies for 8 (8) college credit hours as recognized by the American Council on Education (ACE). This course is recommended for 3 semester hours at the lower-division baccalaureate/associate degree category and 5 semester hours in the upper-division baccalaureate degree category—a total of 8 semester hours that can jumpstart your further education in healthcare!

Key Responsibilities

As a Pharmacy Technician at arenaflex, you'll play a vital role in our pharmacy operations. Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, you will assist in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and company policy. Here's what you can expect:


  • Prescription Processing: Use our advanced pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, and accurately process prescriptions with precision and attention to detail.

  • Medication Preparation: Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical tablets, verifying medication accuracy, and checking for possible drug interactions.

  • Patient Interaction: Model and deliver a unique and delightful customer experience by greeting patients, providing assistance with products and services, and resolving customer issues to ensure a positive experience.

  • Customer Service Excellence: Engage customers and patients with warm greetings and proactive assistance. Develop strong relationships with our most valuable customers by understanding their needs and exceeding expectations.

  • Pharmacy Operations: Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow, ensuring efficient operations throughout the pharmacy department.

  • Quality Assurance: Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company rules and procedures regarding pharmacy errors and quality improvement programs.

  • Compliance: Strictly adhere to the arenaflex Pharmacy Code of Conduct and all applicable state and federal regulations governing pharmacy practice.

  • Financial Transactions: Register all related income on assigned cash registers, collect and handle cash as required, and assist customers in locating over-the-counter products.

  • Third-Party Processing: Correctly and resubmit manual claims for third-party prescription program services in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Inventory Management: Support pharmacy department stock management activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of prescription drugs. Maintain knowledge of company asset protection techniques.

  • Clinical Support: May assist pharmacists in administering medical services, including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients and other medical services as required.

  • Community Relations: Assist in developing and maintaining good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers through clinical provider detailing and outreach.

  • General Support: Assist with indoor and outdoor maintenance by ensuring the pharmacy department is stocked with adequate supplies and remains clean, neat, and orderly.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must meet the following requirements:


  • Language Proficiency: Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).

  • Legal Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States.

  • Background Check: Must pass a background check and drug screen.

  • Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.

  • Certification Commitment: Willingness to earn PTCB certification through the arenaflex training program and/or state-required certification/registration.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications will help you stand out:


  • Six months or more of experience in a retail environment.

  • Previous work experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting.

  • Strong math skills to accurately fill prescriptions, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications.

  • Proficient computer skills and familiarity with pharmacy management systems.

  • Knowledge of store inventory control procedures.

  • Current PTCB certification or willingness to obtain it.

  • Previous customer service experience in a fast-paced environment.

  • Familiarity with medical terminology and pharmacy calculations.
