What You'll Do: Key Responsibilities
As a Pharmacy Technician at Arenaflex, you will play a vital role in our pharmacy operations, working under the direct supervision of our licensed pharmacists. Your responsibilities will include:
- Prescription Processing: Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions accurately and efficiently.
- Medication Preparation: Retrieve, count, and pour pharmaceutical tablets; verify medication accuracy; and check for possible drug interactions under pharmacist supervision.
- Patient Interaction: Engage with customers and patients by greeting them warmly and providing assistance with services and products. Resolve customer issues and answer inquiries to ensure a positive customer experience.
- Customer Service Excellence: Model and share customer service best practices, demonstrating interpersonal habits such as greeting, eye contact, and courtesy while embodying Arenaflex service characteristics including providing help proactively, identifying needs, and servicing until satisfied.
- Relationship Building: Develop strong relationships with our most valuable customers, becoming their trusted pharmacy resource.
- Workflow Support: Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow, ensuring smooth pharmacy operations.
- Quality Assurance: Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately and adhere to company rules and procedures related to pharmacy errors and quality improvement programs.
- Compliance: Comply with all company policies and procedures; maintain respectful relationships with coworkers; and strictly adhere to the Arenaflex Policy regarding good faith dispensing across all applicable prescription dispensing activities.
- Financial Operations: Register all related income on assigned cash register, collect and handle cash as required. Direct customers to OTC aisles when possible to assist in finding products.
- Communication: Handle telephone calls that do not require the personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians.
- Claims Processing: Correctly process and resubmit manual claims for third-party prescription program services in a timely and efficient manner.
- Inventory Management: Assist and support pharmacy department in stock management activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of prescription drugs. Maintain knowledge of company asset protection techniques and document claims for warehouse overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods related to prescription medications.
- Clinical Support: May assist pharmacists in administering medical services such as collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients and other medical services as required.
- Community Relations: Assist Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers, through medical provider detailing and outreach to health agencies, retirement homes, nursing homes, and other forums for enhancing growth opportunities.
- Facility Maintenance: Assist with outside and inside maintenance by ensuring the pharmacy department is stocked with adequate supplies and remains clean, neat, and orderly in condition and appearance.
- Additional Duties: Complete special assignments and other responsibilities as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
Education & Personal Development

- Certification Support: Earn and maintain PTCB Certification through our unique PTCB training program and/or state-required certification/registration. Otherwise, earn PTCB Certification as a condition of promotion to senior technician.
- Continuing Education: Attend training and complete Performance Progress Learning (PPL) requests by your manager while acquiring continuing education credits to maintain your knowledge and skills in healthcare and pharmacy, including the latest information and developments.
- College Credit: Through completion of the Arenaflex pharmacy technician apprenticeship program, your experience qualifies for 8 (eight) college credit hours as recognized by the American Council on Education (ACE). This course is recommended for 3 semester hours at the lower-division baccalaureate/associate degree category and 5 semester hours in the upper-division baccalaureate degree category for a total of 8 semester hours.
Qualifications We're Looking For
Basic Qualifications:
- Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico)
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
Preferred Qualifications:
- Six months of experience in a retail environment
- Previous work experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting
- Strong math skills to fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring, and weighing medicines
- Proficient computer skills
- Knowledge of store inventory management
- PTCB Certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Customer service orientation with a positive attitude
