Position Overview

As a Network Engineer II at arenaflex, you will play a critical role in the design, implementation, and maintenance of our enterprise and production networks. You'll work closely with Network Planners, Transport teams, Security Engineers, and internal partners to bring network designs from concept to production. Your expertise will be key in scaling our current network architecture to meet the evolving demands of our business, ensuring reliability, performance, and security across all operations.

This position requires a professional who excels in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and can effectively manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail. You'll be responsible for creating and updating network standards, troubleshooting complex network issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions that support our content distribution infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities


  • Network Design & Implementation: Work within a team of technical resources to support the design, engineering, and operations teams in managing multi-vendor, multi-protocol enterprise and production networks. Assist in network engineering tasks as assigned, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.
  • Operational Support: Ensure 24x7 operational support and maintenance of applications and network infrastructure. Provide timely and effective support for network engineering tasks, addressing issues with speed and precision to minimize downtime.
  • Network Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve network issues with low to moderate complexity while following established procedures. Conduct root cause analysis to identify underlying problems and implement effective solutions. Utilize your strong analytical skills to troubleshoot everyday live content delivery and pressure delivery issues as they arise.
  • Documentation & Standards: Create and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including standards, procedures, and configuration guidelines. Ensure all network deliverables adhere to established architectural standards and best practices.
  • Incident Management: Lead incident management efforts, ensuring that incidents are effectively raised, managed, and resolved with full communication of status, plans, and actions to management and stakeholders. Maintain clear and concise documentation throughout the incident lifecycle.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and develop solutions that meet business needs. Work with technology vendors to assess software and hardware bugs and implement necessary fixes in a timely manner.
  • Project Participation: Participate in small to medium application and system implementation projects, ensuring successful outcomes that align with network architecture standards. Contribute to the planning and execution of network upgrades and migrations.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with both internal and external contacts at various organizational levels. Explain and resolve issues for both technical and non-technical audiences, demonstrating strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Innovation & Automation: Embrace automation as a key driver of efficiency. Imagine, develop, and deploy tools to support our network infrastructure, contributing to our transition to a service provider model that incorporates 10G, 40G, and 100G network capabilities.
  • Team Player: Be a collaborative team player who can connect and communicate with managers and peers. Share routine information requiring some explanation or interpretation, typically with members of technical teams.
  • Additional Duties: Perform any other responsibilities required to assist in achieving business objectives, including participating in an on-call work rotation as needed.

Required Qualifications


  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field is required. Equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
  • Technical Experience: Strong demonstrated hands-on technical experience with network technologies and concepts, including zone-based firewalls, web application firewalls, application delivery controllers, remote access solutions, routers, switches, compression hardware, and NAT translation equipment.
  • Networking Knowledge: Experience and solid knowledge of transport, network, and internet routing concepts, security policies, and protocols—specifically BGP, OSPF, TCP/IP, IDS/IPS, and DMZ.
  • Analytical Skills: Experience with protocol analysis, transport analysis, network flow analysis, and packet capture devices. Strong ability to analyze data to diagnose and identify root causes of network issues.
  • Work Environment: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic, content-driven environment. Ability to develop scalable solutions to meet evolving business requirements while managing multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to multitask and manage time effectively to ensure tight deadlines are met. Comfortable communicating with diverse audiences, both technical and non-technical.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong work ethic, drive, and ability to aggressively and effectively investigate issues. Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis and develop creative solutions to complex problems.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working with minimal direction, delivering under close deadlines while multitasking, prioritizing projects, and communicating priority updates to team members.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience in the media or digital content distribution industries is highly desirable.
  • Working understanding of enterprise architecture principles, industry regulations, and best practices.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment techniques, policy development, role-based access control procedures, authentication technologies, and security attack pathologies.
  • Experience in scripting with Perl, Python, Ruby, Shell, C, or C++.
  • Broad skills in multiple technical areas, including server, storage, desktop, security, transport, and network infrastructure.
  • Experience with network automation tools and methodologies.
  • Relevant certifications such as Cisco CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent are a plus.
