Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our team at arenaflex. As a Data Engineer, you will collaborate closely with data researchers and other architects to design and develop low-latency data products that drive business insights and AI models. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with a strong foundation in software development who can create highly accessible and reliable distributed data systems and services to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality data for use in the arenaflex product.

Essential Qualifications

• Proficiency in at least one major language, preferably on the JVM stack (e.g., Java, Scala) and SQL (any variation)
• Ability to write rich and efficient code, with a willingness to learn new technologies
• Strong product mindset and interest in understanding business requirements
• Collaborative style to work with product management, data science, engineering, and other teams to support business needs
• Strong analytical skills and expertise in applying data engineering fundamentals to build high-quality data products
• Experience building applications that utilize large-scale distributed systems, data processing systems (batch and real-time) such as Flash, Flink, etc., and storage solutions
• Knowledge of transport protocols and experience building APIs/services and structures used for them, such as Spring, gRPC, etc.
• Insight into supporting and maintaining products that run 24x7, ensuring high availability and reliability
• Ability to design and develop flexible systems and solutions to meet a range of product and engineering objectives
• Strong awareness and design of multi-tenant systems that can handle high-scale and high-throughput requests while being easy to work, monitor, scale, and maintain
• Focus on observability in your designs, ensuring systems are equipped with extensive monitoring, logging, and alerting to enable proactive issue detection and resolution
• Ownership of your work, beyond just code, and a passion for quality
• Ability to work in the most agile of environments with unknown requirements, being flexible and able to pivot quickly when needed
• Unafraid to take on complex challenges and willing to learn and grow with the company

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
• Experience with cloud-based data platforms and services, such as AWS or GCP
• Knowledge of data warehousing and business intelligence tools
• Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control systems, such as Git
• Experience with testing and validation frameworks, such as JUnit or PyUnit
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
