We're seeking experienced Customer Service & Sales Assistants to join our team in various locations, including the Ithaca Campus and Downtown Ithaca Location. As a Customer Service & Sales Assistant, you'll be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, driving sales, and supporting our retail operations. This is a part-time/casual position, with a variable schedule based on availability, business needs, and work performance.

  • *Key Responsibilities**
  • Provide exceptional customer service, greeting and welcoming customers, and demonstrating active selling techniques to drive sales and meet customer needs
  • Maintain a high-quality visual merchandising environment, including setting up seasonal promotions and visual displays, and monitoring product restocking and recovery
  • Operate cash registers, assist customers with check-out, and execute cash handling procedures accurately and efficiently
  • Support inventory and order fulfillment, including receiving and processing incoming merchandise, assisting with special orders, and handling seasonal perishable goods
  • Provide excellent customer care, responding to customer inquiries, and resolving issues promptly and professionally
  • Work successfully as part of a team, demonstrating excellent communication skills, and being dependable in attendance and punctuality
  • Maintain a positive and professional attitude, even in high-pressure situations
  • *Essential Qualifications**
  • Pleasant personality, excellent customer service skills, and a passion for working with the public
  • Moderate computer/systems competency, with experience in retail software and systems
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers, colleagues, and management
  • Ability to occasionally climb ladders, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds as needed, and stand for long periods of time
  • Prior retail sales experience is helpful, but not required
  • *Preferred Qualifications**
  • Experience working in a fast-paced retail environment, with a strong understanding of visual merchandising and sales techniques
  • Familiarity with Cornell University's campus and community, with a passion for working with students, faculty, and staff
