This role is critical to ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of sports information that powers our digital platforms and television productions worldwide.

Position Overview

The Data Entry Specialist I is a part-time or full-time position within arenaflex's Details and Data Gathering department. Our team is responsible for creating and maintaining scores, statistics, and comprehensive sports data across virtually all arenaflex platforms – from our television graphics and Bottom Line ticker to our website, fantasy sports platforms, and Game Cast applications.

As a Data Entry Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of this data (including scores, schedules, standings, leaderboards, and more) across arenaflex platforms globally. You will work with digital data feeds and utilize manual data entry techniques to guarantee the delivery of precise, timely, and intelligent sports information to millions of fans worldwide.

Our Details and Data team members are also responsible for helping transform statistics into compelling storylines. You should be able to recognize statistical events that help explain why a team won or lost. Those applicants with specialized training, skills, and knowledge – such as mathematics, economics, databases, SQL programming, or similar fields – can apply their expertise to support Details and Data projects and storytelling initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Data Accuracy and Timeliness: Guarantee that sports information dispersed by Details and Data is accurate, timely, and adroit. Your attention to detail will directly impact millions of fans who rely on our data for their sports experience.


• Real-Time Data Entry: Work in individual settings and in teams to deliver accurate statistical breakdowns, clock-and-score updates, and various measurements and data in real-time that power numerous arenaflex products and productions.


• Platform Knowledge Development: Create and maintain a working knowledge of Details and Data's role in powering arenaflex digital products and television productions, understanding how your work contributes to the bigger picture.


• Quality Assurance: Verify the results of your own work and that of others; perform with consistently high meticulousness to maintain our reputation for excellence.


• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Contribute to production, projects, and initiatives across the newsroom, and assist newsroom leaders who are coordinating full-time and part-time staff members.


• Problem Identification and Resolution: Anticipate potential issues, both daily and long-term, and propose viable solutions. Communicate rapidly and decisively with colleagues on these matters.


• Process Improvement: Play a proactive role in working with partners to develop or refine production processes, continuously seeking ways to enhance efficiency and accuracy.


• Team Engagement: Be an active participant in team and office meetings, contributing ideas and supporting your colleagues.


• Professional Development: Seek and respond to feedback about personal performance, embracing opportunities for growth and improvement.


• Policy Compliance: Stay informed about current office policies and procedures, ensuring compliance at all times.

Required Qualifications

• Sports Knowledge: Working knowledge of teams, players, and the rules of various sports. You should be genuinely interested in sports and stay current with teams, players, and sporting events.


• Schedule Availability: Full schedule availability, which will include evenings (exclusively), weekends, and holidays. Our fans never take a break, and neither do we!


• Quick Learning Ability: Ability to rapidly learn production processes that produce and/or maintain sports information that powers arenaflex's digital and television products.


• Accuracy Under Pressure: Ability to achieve a high level of content accuracy in time-sensitive production situations. Deadlines are critical in sports broadcasting.


• Strong Communication Skills: Ability to communicate confidently – verbally and in writing – with production managers and colleagues about production issues and opportunities, often through the noise of a busy newsroom environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ years' experience working in sports and/or statistics, preferably in media or broadcasting environments.


• Knowledge of how sports data is utilized in media and for research purposes.


• Working knowledge of arenaflex products and productions, including our digital platforms and television offerings.


• Experience with Microsoft Excel and other Office products, including advanced spreadsheet functionality.


• Experience leading or mentoring a team, demonstrating leadership capabilities.


• Fluency in Spanish (both speaking and writing) – a significant advantage in our diverse content environment.


• Experience using social media in a professional or news environment, understanding its role in modern sports media.

Education Requirements

Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred: Associate degree or equivalent college coursework in related fields such as communications, sports management, statistics, or similar disciplines.

Additional Information

This position requires working all night shifts (exclusively), weekends, and holidays. The ideal candidate must be comfortable with unconventional schedules and thrive in a 24/7 sports media environment.
