Job Description

We are an early-stage consumer health startup founded at Harvard Business School, focused on preventing age-related muscle decline through early detection and personalized strength programming.

We are looking for a Clinical Exercise Physiologist to help design and refine our assessment protocols and scalable training systems. This is a part-time, flexible contractor role with the potential to grow as the company scales.

This role is ideal for someone who wants to apply clinical exercise science in a product-driven, preventive health context, beyond traditional clinical settings.

    Responsibilities
  • Design and standardize functional assessment protocols (e.g., grip strength, mobility, strength benchmarks)
  • Develop scalable strength training programs for adults (primarily 40–70)
  • Create progression and regression frameworks for different ability levels
  • Define risk stratification and contraindication guidelines
  • Translate clinical knowledge into clear, repeatable systems
  • Collaborate on improving program logic based on user data and outcomes
  • Provide occasional review of client training plans and edge cases
    Qualifications (Required)
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, or related field
  • ACSM-EP or ACSM-CEP certification (preferred: ACSM-CEP)
  • 6–8+ years of experience in:
  • Background in strength & conditioning / kinesiology with experience programming for the general population (not just athletes or clinical patients)
  • Proven ability to design programs people actually follow (experience with coaching, digital products, or client retention)
  • Strong understanding of progression, recovery, and behavior change—not just workouts, but how to drive consistency over time
  • Working with general population and/or older adults (40+)
  • Experience designing exercise programs, not just administering sessions
  • Strong understanding of: functional assessments, strength training principles, risk screening and contraindications
    Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with DEXA, grip strength, gait, or functional testing
  • Experience building or standardizing protocols or systems
  • Interest in longevity, prevention, and consumer health
  • Comfortable working in an early-stage startup environment

Pay: $50.00 - $100.00 per hour

Expected hours: 5.0 – 15.0 per week

    Benefits:
  • Flexible schedule
    Application Question(s):
  • How many years of experience do you have working with general population or clinical populations (e.g., cardiac rehab, older adults)?
  • Have you worked with adults aged 40+ or older populations? If so, what percent of people you have worked with were in this age range?
  • Briefly describe how you would design a strength program for a 48-year-old women in perimenopause looking to improve bone density.
    License/Certification:
  • ACSM-EP or ACSM-CEP certification (Required)
