About the position The Senior Infrastructure Consultant serves as the foundational architect of our OpenShift Virtualization Pods. In this high-impact role, the Senior Infrastructure Consultant operates beyond implementation, acting as the architect of the “Landing Zone." This role navigates the complexities of transitioning mission-critical VMware workloads into agile, production-grade OpenShift environments. By balancing deep platform engineering with high-touch organizational enablement, the Senior Infrastructure Consultant ensures that our clients, ranging from Global Financial Institutions to US Public Sector agencies, achieve seamless business continuity and a future-ready infrastructure. Responsibilities • Serve as the technical authority for OpenShift Virtualization Pods, owning the end-to-end enterprise-grade OpenShift Landing Zones for the virtualization workloads. • Lead the "Day 1" design, deployment, and hardening of OpenShift clusters, optimized for OpenShift Virtualization (KubeVirt), specifically tuned for the rigors of enterprise virtualization and mixed-mode workloads. • Architect, validate, and operationalize OpenShift Virtualization environments capable of supporting Tier 1, latency-sensitive, and highly available workloads at enterprise scale. • Design and execute sophisticated Migration Factory testing protocols including validating storage performance, network resiliency, and high-availability failover to guarantee production readiness. • Translate VMware-centric operational models (clusters, resource pools, DRS, HA) into Kubernetes-native abstractions that preserve intent while improving agility and automation. • Virtualization/Migration Assessment (VMA) outputs to phased, executable technical migration plans with clear sequencing, success criteria, and risk mitigation strategies. • Act as a strategic mentor and trusted advisor to client platform, virtualization, and application teams, guiding them through both the technical and cultural shift from traditional virtualization to Kubernetes-first operations. • Define and implement Day 2 operational patterns, including OpenShift and Operator lifecycle management, patching and upgrade strategies, backup and restore workflows, disaster recovery designs, and ongoing capacity and performance management. • Integrate and validate enterprise storage and networking planforms, including Red Hat OpenShift Data Foundation and CSI-backed solutions with a focus on high-performance RWO/RWX workloads. • Author comprehensive runbooks, operational playbooks, and decision logs that serve as the blueprint for the client’s long-term operational success. • Contribute to internal intellectual property, including reference architectures, automation patterns, reusable migration frameworks, and delivery standards. Requirements • Bachelor’s Degree in an IT-related field or equivalent work experience, required. • 8-10 years of progressive experience in enterprise infrastructure, platform engineering, or systems architecture roles. • 3-5 years of hands-on Red Hat OpenShift experience. • 2-3 years working with OpenShift Virtualization (KubeVirt). • 5-8 years of enterprise virtualization experience supporting mission-critical workloads. • Hands-on experience with Red Hat OpenShift Data Foundation (ODF) and enterprise CSI providers (NetApp, Pure, Dell), focusing on high-performance RWO/RWX volumes. • US Citizens required for clearable projects.
