Position Overview
As a Senior Data Scientist in the Customer Testing Analytics group at arenaflex, you will be an experimenter, utilizing arenaflex's rich data ecosystem to design and measure large-scale customer-level experiments and in-market tests to determine the business impact from our most critical initiatives. This expansive and dynamic role will see you developing and applying statistical modeling tools, techniques, and datasets to identify causal drivers of business impact. Your analysis will directly inform broader rollout strategies for our customer and retail digital programs.

Key Responsibilities
- Drive Strategic Innovation: Provide guidance and expertise to help business partners effectively measure and validate our most critical business hypotheses. Support the full scope of testing across the organization, from ideation and exploratory data analysis all the way through measurement of sales and transaction lift for initiatives at scale.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with technology, operations, marketing, and external vendors to develop comprehensive learning plans, aligning program goals with specific and measurable partner, customer, and business insights.
- Complex Analytical Initiatives: Develop fit-for-purpose test versus control models and other descriptive and inferential analysis to determine the causal effect on sales, transactions, margin, and/or loyalty from specific interventions and inform go/no-go decisions.
- Data Preparation & Integration: Lead the data preparation of complex datasets and ensure accurate analysis setup. Be responsible for the extraction, manipulation, and integration of a wide variety of datasets including customer, transactional, and clickstream datasets. Collaborate across functional boundaries and navigate the complexities of our technology stack and integrations with external vendors.
- Compelling Data Storytelling: Work under consultative or self-initiated direction to produce meaningful visualizations and narratives to support testing recommendations. Present these stories both verbally and visually to varying levels of business partners, up to and including senior leadership.
- Methodology Leadership: Lead and evangelize the experimental methodology. Be a role model for test design and measurement, developing and spreading best practices across your business partners.

Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with quantitative emphasis in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Economics, Marketing Analytics, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in data analysis or a related field
- Strong data querying skills (SQL) and advanced proficiency in R or Python
- Experience processing data at scale via Spark (PySpark, SparkR, Scala, or Java) or other sources to generate business insights
- Proficiency with descriptive analysis and data visualization (ggplot2, seaborn, matplotlib, Tableau)
- Solid knowledge of A/B testing and inferential statistics (sample size determination/power analysis, hypothesis testing, regression, etc.)
- Experience with event tagging for web and mobile applications, using tools like Google Analytics, mParticle, and similar platforms to accurately collect and analyze clickstream data
- Strong collaboration instincts—desire and ability to work with partners to achieve the best outcome for the business
- Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills. The role requires effective communication with colleagues, stakeholders, and leaders from diverse backgrounds
- Proven ability to handle multiple, time-sensitive projects and competing needs simultaneously to drive projects to completion with minimal guidance and high regard for details
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of industry-standard A/B testing tools and technologies such as Google Optimize, Optimizely, Apptimize, etc.
- Familiarity with FICO Test and Learn software is strongly preferred
- Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in a quantitative field
- Experience in retail, e-commerce, or consumer goods industries
- Knowledge of machine learning fundamentals and their application to business problems
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
