About the Role
As a Senior Data Scientist in our Customer Testing Analytics division, you will be an innovator and experimenter, leveraging arenaflex's vast data resources to design, implement, and measure large-scale customer-level experiments and in-market tests that determine the business impact of our most critical initiatives. This is a broad and dynamic role where you will develop and apply statistical modeling tools, techniques, and datasets to identify causal drivers of business impact. Your analyses will directly inform rollout strategies for our customer and retail digital programs, influencing how millions of customers experience arenaflex worldwide.
In this position, you will serve as a testing analysis expert, working at the intersection of data science, business strategy, and customer experience. You will have the opportunity to shape how arenaflex learns and adapts, making a tangible impact on business outcomes across our global operations.
What You'll Do
Drive Strategic Innovation Through Experimentation
As a Senior Data Scientist, you will influence and support our most significant strategic initiatives. You will provide guidance and expertise to help business partners effectively measure and validate our most critical business hypotheses. Your work will support the full scope of testing across the organization, from initial ideation and exploratory data analysis all the way through to measuring sales and transaction lift for initiatives at scale. This end-to-end ownership means your insights will directly shape the future of how arenaflex serves its customers.
Collaborate on Cross-Functional Learning Plans
You will partner with technology, operations, marketing, and external vendors to develop comprehensive learning plans that align program goals with specific and measurable partner, customer, and business insights. This collaboration will require you to bridge multiple disciplines and build strong working relationships across the organization, ensuring that our testing efforts are coordinated, efficient, and impactful.
Deliver Complex Analytical Projects
You will develop fit-for-purpose test versus control models and other descriptive and inferential analyses to determine the causal effect on sales, transactions, margin, and/or loyalty from specific interventions. Your work will inform go/no-go decisions for major programs, giving you a direct line to executive decision-making and the ability to shape the direction of multi-million dollar initiatives.
Lead Data Preparation of Complex Datasets
You will be responsible for the extraction, manipulation, and integration of a wide variety of datasets, including customer, transactional, and clickstream data. To ensure accurate test setup, you will collaborate across functional boundaries and navigate the complexities of our technology stack and integrations with external vendors. Your attention to data quality and integrity will be critical to the validity of all experimental results.
Create Compelling Data-Driven Stories
Working under consultative or self-directed leadership, you will produce meaningful visualizations and narratives to support testing recommendations. You will present these stories both verbally and visually to varying levels of business stakeholders, up to and including senior executive management. Your ability to translate complex statistical concepts into actionable business insights will be essential to your success.
Lead and Evangelize Experimentation Methodology
You will serve as a role model for test design and measurement, developing and spreading best practices across your business partners. Your thought leadership will help build a culture of experimentation throughout arenaflex, elevating the quality and impact of testing across all departments.

What We're Looking For
Essential Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree with quantitative emphasis in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Economics, Marketing Analytics, or a related field.
- Experience: Three or more years of experience in data analysis or a related field.
- Technical Skills: Strong data querying skills (SQL) and advanced proficiency in R or Python.
- Big Data Experience: Experience processing data at scale via Spark (PySpark, SparkR, Scala, or Java) or other distributed computing platforms to generate business insights.
- Visualization Expertise: Capability with graphic analysis and data visualization using tools such as ggplot2, seaborn, matplotlib, or Tableau.
- Statistical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of A/B testing and inferential statistics, including sample size determination, power analysis, hypothesis testing, and regression analysis.
- Event Tagging Experience: Some experience in event tagging for web and mobile applications, using tools like Google Analytics, mParticle, or similar platforms to collect and analyze clickstream data accurately.
- Collaboration Skills: Strong collaboration instincts with a genuine desire and ability to work with partners to achieve the best outcome for the business.
- Communication Abilities: Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills. The role requires effective interaction with colleagues, stakeholders, and leaders from diverse backgrounds.
- Project Management: Proven ability to handle multiple, time-sensitive projects and competing priorities simultaneously, driving initiatives to completion with minimal guidance and high attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of industry-standard A/B testing tools and technologies such as Google Optimize, Optimizely, Apptimize, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with MasterCard Test and Learn software or comparable experimentation platforms.
- Experience in retail, food and beverage, or consumer goods industries.
- Advanced degree in a quantitative field.
