We are currently seeking a talented and motivated Senior Data Analyst & Business Intelligence Specialist to join our dynamic analytics team. What You Will Do
As a key member of our analytics division, you will play a pivotal role in driving data-informed decision-making across the organization. Your responsibilities will span multiple domains, requiring you to leverage both your technical expertise and business acumen to deliver solutions that matter. Here's what you can expect to do in this role:
Data Analysis & Quality Assurance
- Apply deep knowledge of functional business areas and scenarios to understand where data is stored and how it should be utilized
- Develop expertise in database technologies including SQL, NoSQL, and distributed datastores to effectively retrieve and manipulate data
- Maintain exceptional data quality standards by performing preliminary data quality assessments on extracted datasets
- Identify the most suitable data sources for specific business needs, ensuring fitness for purpose
- Assist in understanding the order of requirements and service level agreements to meet stakeholder expectations
Code Development & Testing
- Write efficient, scalable code using programming languages such as SQL, Java, C++, Python, and others as required
- Develop custom applications and solutions that leverage business, technical, and data requirements
- Implement comprehensive testing strategies including static analysis, dynamic testing, software composition analysis, and manual penetration testing
- Ensure code quality through rigorous testing methodologies and best practices
- Document code and testing procedures for knowledge sharing and future maintenance
Model Evaluation & Validation
- Apply model validation techniques including Chi-square tests, ROC curves, and root mean square error calculations
- Understand the impact of variables and features on model performance
- Identify appropriate model evaluation metrics for different business scenarios
- Implement best practices for model testing and tuning to assess accuracy, fit, validity, and robustness
- Work with multi-stage models and model ensembles to ensure comprehensive validation
Data Visualization & Communication
- Generate compelling graphical representations of data and model results using tools like Python, R, GGplot, Matplotlib, Plotly, Tableau, and PowerBI
- Understand customer requirements to design appropriate data representations for multiple datasets
- Collaborate with user experience designers and UI engineers to build intuitive front-end applications
- Present complex findings to technical and non-technical audiences using appropriate visualization frameworks
- Personalize communication style based on stakeholder needs and leverage rational arguments to drive alignment
- Guide and mentor junior associates on storytelling techniques and visualization strategies
Business Context & Strategic Advisory
- Provide expert recommendations to business stakeholders to solve complex business problems
- Develop business cases for projects with projected return on investment or cost savings analysis
- Translate business requirements into actionable projects, activities, and responsibilities
- Align analytical work to overall business strategy and develop domain-specific artifacts
- Function as an interpreter between business needs and technical solutions
- Identify and recommend relevant business insights relating to your area of expertise
Technical Problem Formulation
- Translate business problems within your domain to data-related or mathematical solutions
- Select appropriate analytical methods and tools to address specific business challenges
- Develop use cases and provide examples demonstrating how analytical approaches solve business problems
- Apply analytics, big data analytics, and automation techniques to drive efficiency
Analytical Modeling & Advanced Statistics
- Select analytical modeling methods most suitable for complex data sets and develop custom analytical models
- Conduct exploratory data analysis including statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, and statistical inferences
- Define and finalize features based on model responses, introducing new or revised features to enhance analysis
- Design experiments, identify test dimensions, finalize designs, and test hypotheses
- Perform trend and cluster analysis to answer practical business problems
- Provide recommendations and key insights to business stakeholders
- Mentor and guide junior team members on modeling and analytics techniques
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must possess the following minimum qualifications:
- Option 1: Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, plus 3 years of experience in an analytics-related field
- Option 2: Master's degree in Data Science, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, plus 1 year of experience in an analytics-related field
- Option 3: 5 years of experience in an analytics or related field without a formal degree
Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences are essential for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications will give you a competitive edge:
- Advanced degree in Data Science, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Information Technology, Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or Econometrics
- Experience with machine learning and optimization models
- Professional certifications or proven completion of assessments in Python, Spark, Scala, or R
- Experience with open-source frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch
- Demonstrated experience with natural language processing, computer vision, or deep learning applications
- Knowledge of classical and numerical optimization techniques including Linear Programming, Integer Programming, and Quadratic Programming
