School Nurse LPN- Special Education- Haysville USD 261 <p>Haysville USD 261 www.usd261.com </p> <p>Job Description<br /><br />Position: School Nurse LPN<br />Supervisor: District Nurse (RN) and Principal<br />Payment Rate: According to Educational Support Staff Salary Schedule<br />Qualifications:<br /> Current Kansas Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) License<br /> Completion of an approved practical nursing program<br /> Current certification in BLS<br /> Experience in pediatrics and/or school setting preferred<br /> Knowledge of health equipment and computer applications<br /> Maintain current TB testing as required by Health Department regulations<br />Position Function: The School Nurse-LPN provides school health services under the<br />direction of the District Nurse (RN) and building principal. The LPN assists in implementing<br />student health services, supporting student wellness, and maintaining a safe school<br />environment.<br />Essential Functions:<br /> Serves as a health advocate for students under RN supervision<br /> Promotes a safe and healthy school environment<br /> Supports health education efforts<br /> Implements health care plans as delegated<br /> Performs basic health screenings<br /> Collaborates with school personnel<br /> Communicates routine health concerns; refers complex issues to RN<br /> Supports communication with families and healthcare providers<br /> Participates in student support teams as appropriate<br /> Monitors communicable diseases and immunization compliance<br /> Provides first aid and emergency care<br /> Administers medications per policy<br /> Maintains accurate health records<br /> Ensures supplies and equipment are maintained<br /> Maintains confidentiality<br />Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:<br /> Knowledge of basic nursing care and student health needs<br /> Understanding of child growth and development<br /> Familiarity with public health practices<br /><br /> Awareness of applicable laws and regulations<br /> Ability to recognize signs of illness<br /> Strong communication and interpersonal skills<br /> Ability to collaborate with supervising RN<br />Interrelations:<br /> Frequent contact with students, staff, and families<br /> Ability to work with diverse populations professionally<br />Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:<br /> Work in noisy and crowded environments<br /> Use of protective equipment when needed<br /> Ability to lift and move objects<br />Terms of Employment:<br /> At will employment<br /> Up to a 40-hour work week<br /> Report to school 15-30 minutes before school begins and stays 15-30 minutes after<br />school ends.<br /> Remain on campus unless approved<br />Performance Review:<br /> Evaluated in accordance with Kansas Statutes and Board of Education Policy</p>
