Product Engineer - Web & UI (f/m/d)

Apply Now
Build a UI layer for Stackable Data Platform. Own it end to end.

The platform bundles 12+ open source data tools (Trino, Kafka, HBase, Superset, ...) on Kubernetes. Today everything is Infrastructure-as-Code, deployed and configured declaratively. That works great for the infra crowd but not everyone wants to write YAML. Your job is to make the platform accessible to more people and add value that only a UI can provide.

Most of the bundled tools have their own web interfaces but nothing ties them together. Some important things have no UI at all: querying Trino, managing permissions, uploading files to S3, browsing HBase tables. On top of the product UI, we also have an internal portal and a customer portal that both need work. Three products, one owner: You.

Nice to have:

A note on applications: We're a team of 20. We read every application personally. Please do the same with this job description. We get hundreds of applications and most of them clearly didn't read what we wrote or just have
a generic AI-generated cover letter without any personality. We reject all of these immediately.

We don't care about typos or grammar in your cover letter. We care about whether we'd want to work with you. A CV alone won't tell us that. Please include a short statement about why you want to work with us and why we'd want to work with you. Yours, not what some AI thinks we want to hear. Your cover letter matters more to us than your CV. We reject applications without a cover letter without review.

We don't do Scrum or sprints. We keep meetings to a minimum and expect you to make decisions yourself. But that doesn't mean you're on your own. You've got the whole team supporting you.

We're all backend people here. Comfortable in the console, happy writing Rust. Nobody will pretend to know more about frontend than you do. That also means you'll have real influence on what gets built.

We ship three releases a year and can't easily hotfix in between. This is not a SaaS product. What goes out needs to work. If you care about quality, you'll fit right in.

Stackable is a ~20 person company building an open source data platform on Kubernetes. Fully remote, based in Germany and the UK. Our product makes 12+ open source data tools work together and "enterprise ready."
