Position Overview
We are currently seeking a dedicated and customer-focused Pharmacy Customer Service Associate to join our team. In this vital role, you will serve as the friendly face of our pharmacy operations, delivering exceptional service while supporting our pharmacists and ensuring smooth daily operations. As a Pharmacy Customer Service Associate at arenaflex, you will play a crucial role in creating positive patient experiences, processing prescriptions accurately, and contributing to the overall success of our pharmacy team. This is a full-time position offering competitive hourly compensation of $25 per hour, with opportunities for professional growth within our organization.
Key Responsibilities
Client Experience & Customer Service
- Greet and engage customers and patients with warmth and professionalism, ensuring every interaction reflects arenaflex's commitment to exceptional service
- Resolve customer issues and answer questions promptly to guarantee a positive shopping and healthcare experience
- Demonstrate outstanding customer support best practices, including friendly greetings, maintaining eye contact, and exhibiting genuine kindness
- Recommend items to customers and suggest complementary products to enhance their shopping experience
- Provide courteous, friendly, quick, and efficient assistance to all customers throughout their visit
Point of Sale Operations
- Process customer purchases accurately using the assigned sales register, collecting payments and providing correct change
- Handle voids, returns, delays, refunds, and exchanges as needed in accordance with company policies
- Guide customers to appropriate aisles, particularly the over-the-counter (OTC) section, to assist them in finding products
- Maintain clean, well-organized counters and displays, ensuring merchandise is properly promoted and arranged
- Perform inventory counts and maintain accurate records as directed by the shift manager or senior supervisor
Pharmacy Operations Support
- Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in accordance with state and federal regulations governing pharmacy practice
- Utilize pharmacy systems to obtain patient and medication information and process prescriptions accurately
- Enter patient and medication data into the pharmacy system, ensuring all information is input correctly and comprehensively
- Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical medications, verifying accuracy at each step
- Check medications for correctness and identify potential drug interactions or contraindications
- Support pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining efficient pharmacy workflow
- Report prescription errors to the on-duty pharmacist immediately, adhering to organization policies and Quality Improvement Program guidelines
- Review and follow the arenaflex Pharmacy Operating Guidelines and comply with all relevant regulations
- Strictly adhere to the arenaflex Good Faith Dispensing policy during all prescription dispensing activities
- Handle phone calls that do not require the pharmacist's personal attention, including physician inquiries
- Process (revise and resubmit) manual claims for third-party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner
Inventory Management
- Assist and support the Pharmacy Division with inventory management activities, including ordering, unloading, checking, and storing medication shipments
- Maintain knowledge of organization asset security procedures
- Document and report warehouse overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods, including prescription medications
- Ensure compliance with state and local regulations regarding controlled substances such as alcoholic beverages and tobacco products
Merchandising & Store Operations
- Build and maintain displays, including promotional, seasonal, super, and sale area merchandising
- Complete resets and corrections as directed by management
- Assist with food item organization and placement according to company procedures
- Support inventory rotation using the first-in, first-out (FIFO) method and manage restock-outs
- Demonstrate working knowledge of store systems and equipment
Additional Services
- Provide customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photo services, banner printing, and creative machine operations
- Handle special photo product sales and promotions
- Take on web order responsibilities, including monitoring orders in Picture Care Plus, fulfilling orders by picking items, and delivering orders to customers as they arrive
- Assist with external and internal maintenance to ensure a clean, orderly, and well-presented store environment
General Responsibilities
- Comply with all company policies and procedures while maintaining respectful relationships with team members
- Complete special projects and other assignments as directed
- Attend training sessions and complete required learning modules
- Maintain current knowledge and expertise in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and industry developments
Qualifications & Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred; however, equivalent experience will be considered
- Language Skills: Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico)
- Availability: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
- Certifications: Must obtain and maintain PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state-required certification/registration
Preferred Qualifications
- Six months or more of experience in a retail environment
- Previous work experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting
- Strong mathematical skills for accurate prescription filling, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications
- Proficient computer skills and familiarity with pharmacy management systems
- Knowledge of store inventory control procedures
- PTCB certification (highly preferred)
