MATH INSTRUCTOR (GRADES 2–4) – 100% VIRTUAL | SMALL GROUPS

MATH INSTRUCTOR (GRADES 2–4) – 100% VIRTUAL | SMALL GROUPS This is not a “just teach the lesson and move on” role. This is for an educator who understands that how a student thinks about math matters more than getting the right answer—and wants to be part of rebuilding that from the ground up. You’ll be working with students who don’t just need help with math… they need help believing they can do math. 2. About the Students You’ll be working with students in Grades 2–4 (some 5th) who are capable—but stuck. Most of them: • Have gaps in foundational skills (number sense, operations, strategies) • Struggle with confidence and often think “I’m just not good at math” • Guess instead of reason • Get overwhelmed with word problems and multi-step thinking • Have difficulty explaining how they got an answer • Experience math anxiety or avoidance We don’t just help them “get better at math.” We help them: • Build strong foundations that actually make sense • Develop clear strategies instead of guessing • Become independent thinkers who can explain their reasoning • Increase speed, accuracy, and confidence • Replace frustration with “I can figure this out” 3. The Role You will: • Teach small group virtual sessions (2x/week) • Deliver pre-created lessons (slides, structure, materials provided) • Guide students to explain their thinking—not just give answers • Track student progress in both skills and confidence • Send weekly parent recap emails (created + structured) • Reinforce learning through a home–learning connection You will not be creating curriculum from scratch. Your focus is delivery, engagement, and student growth. 4. What Success Looks Like (KPIs) This role is measured by what students actually do, not just what is taught. Student Engagement & Thinking • 90%+ student attendance • 85–90%+ of students explain their thinking during each session • You consistently prompt thinking: • “How did you get that?” • “Why does that work?” Family Communication & Partnership • Weekly parent recap sent within 24 hours • 75%+ homework completion rate • Clear communication of: • What was taught • What to practice • How parents can support Student Confidence & Growth • At least 1 documented student “win” per session • Weekly confidence tracked (1–5 scale) with an upward trend • Students begin to: • Persist instead of shut down • Self-correct errors • Try multiple strategies Advanced (Rockstar Level) • 85%+ student retention • Students explain thinking to peers • Students begin correcting themselves without prompting 5. Who This Is For This is for someone who: • Believes mistakes are the pathway to understanding, not something to avoid • Knows how to slow students down to think, not rush them to answers • Is comfortable asking: • “Why?” • “How do you know?” • Can create a safe, structured environment where students will actually participate • Values consistency, communication, and follow-through • Wants to be part of something that is impact-driven, not worksheet-driven 6. Who This Is NOT For This is NOT for someone who: • Just explains steps and expects students to follow along • Prioritizes getting the answer over understanding • Talks more than the students do • Avoids pushing students to explain their thinking • Is inconsistent with communication or follow-through • Sees this as “extra summer income” without caring about outcomes If you are looking for something where you can “just show up and teach”—this is not that. 7. Compensation • $250–$400 per group (approx. 5 students) per 6-week session • + $100 student retention bonus • + $100 group KPI performance bonus This is a performance-based role—your impact directly influences your earning potential. 8. Application Instructions To apply, you must complete the Google Form application, which includes: • Your background and experience • AND a short teaching video (under 5 minutes) showing how you explain a concept Only complete applications will be reviewed If you’re selected, the next step will be a short interview to explore fit on both sides. Final Note At Doc Smarti’s Learning Lab, we don’t just teach math. We help students rebuild their relationship with learning—so confidence, independence, and success extend far beyond numbers. If that matters to you, we’d love to hear from you. Pay: $250.00 - $1,000.00 per month Benefits: • Professional development assistance Work Location: Remote
