The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is one of the largest agencies in the state, responsible for ensuring the health and well-being of North Carolinians. They are seeking a Financial Analyst I to perform financial analyses, consult on recordkeeping, and create decision support reports for the Office of the Controller.
Responsibilities
- Perform financial analyses to ensure data integrity
- Consultation on recordkeeping and proper accounting for costs is furnished to others in the Office of the Controller (OoC) as well as outside parties
- Work on special projects as required
- Create and update decision support reports used by the Office of the Controller
- Coordinate the collection effort by emailing and calling county contacts as necessary
- Review the plans in order to validate appropriate cost allocation methods, reasonableness of allocations and identify potential problems
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, banking, finance, business administration, economics, or a related discipline from an accredited institution
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Extensive knowledge of Excel and Word
- Knowledge of accounting theories, principles and grant accounting
