About the Role: Safety Analyst
The Safety Analyst position is a critical part of our Safety department, responsible for supporting various team members through processing reports, collecting data, developing reports, following up on corrective actions, investigating incidents, and participating in special initiatives as assigned. This role is instrumental in maintaining and enhancing our Safety Management System (SMS) and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and internal requirements.
As a Safety Analyst at arenaflex, you will play a key role in the development and implementation of SMS data collection systems and other processes that optimize strategies and structures used to determine compliance with federal aviation regulations, internal requirements, and industry best practices. You will work closely with the Safety Department Managers and collaborate with cross-functional teams across Flight Operations, Dispatch, Inflight, and Maintenance departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a subject matter expert for Safety Programs and serve as a trusted advisor to management and operational teams
- Collaborate with Safety Department Managers on safety activities, initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts
- Review, process, analyze, and investigate all reports received through the protection reporting system, including Operational/Irregularity reports, ASAP (Aviation Safety Action Program) reports, and Fatigue reports
- Analyze technical data from hazards, events, and occurrences to identify, interpret, and communicate trends or patterns in complex data sets
- Act as a safety auditor for the Internal Evaluation Program, Safety Investigations, and elevated hazard regions of operations
- Track, analyze, and interpret data outputs from the Company's safety programs to drive informed decision-making
- Assist with the management of company databases for the purpose of improved airline safety performance
- Provide technical expertise to Management concerning data models, database design development, and data mining techniques
- Prepare relevant reports and communicate protection-related information to managers and line employees in support of the Safety Management System (SMS)
- Assist in the development, implementation, and control of the Company's Safety Management System (SMS)
- Serve as a member of the Flight Operations Quality Assurance (FOQA) Monitoring Team and oversee aircraft data collection (alongside Technical Operations)
- Perform FOQA data analysis and trend identification to proactively address potential safety concerns
- Maintain the FOQA Database and ensure organization compliance with FOQA program guidelines
- Assist in the continuous improvement of the risk identification and safety risk assessment schemes of the Company
- Prepare research studies regarding aviation protection trends, emerging risks, and industry best practices
- Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by leadership
- Perform other duties as required to support the Safety team and organizational objectives
Essential Qualifications
- Knowledge of Aviation Safety Programs: Familiarity with ASAP, FOQA, LOSA (Line Operations Safety Audit), FRMP (Fatigue Risk Management Program), IEP (Internal Evaluation Program), and VDRP (Voluntary Disclosure Reporting Program)
- Operational Experience: Working familiarity with Flight Operations, Dispatch, Inflight, and Maintenance operations
- Aviation Technical Knowledge: Understanding of aircraft systems, minimum equipment lists, aircraft dispatch procedures, and Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs)
- Safety Management Systems: Knowledge of SMS requirements, risk management, safety assurance, safety reporting, and safety promotion principles
- Human Factors: Basic understanding of Crew Resource Management (CRM) concepts and aviation human factors
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Communication Skills: Excellent writing skills, including report writing, document creation, and correspondence with government agencies such as the FAA
- Presentation Abilities: Strong verbal, presentation, and educational skills to effectively communicate safety information to diverse audiences
- Analytical Capabilities: Strong technical and data analysis skills with the ability to perform statistical analysis and conduct comprehensive audits
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to reviewing data, identifying discrepancies, and ensuring accuracy in all deliverables
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Aviation Safety, Aerospace Engineering, Safety Management, or a related field
- Previous experience in airline operations, preferably in a safety-related role
- FAA Aircraft Dispatcher certificate
- Pilot certification (Private or Commercial)
- A&P (Airframe and Powerplant) Mechanic certificate
- Experience with database management systems and data visualization tools
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management principles
- Six Sigma or Lean Six Sigma certification
