This is a remote position, as needed.<br><br><strong>Job Duties:</strong> </div><div> <br>1. Provide accurate translation, editing of documents, and/or transcription of audio files involving law enforcement and legal subject matter from English to Japanese. <br>2. Edit audio transcriptions that include slang and idioms. <br>3. Edit legal documents, such as affidavits, depositions, etc., while demonstrating a strong command of legal terminology in both English and the target language.<br>4. Excellent written communication skills in English and the target foreign language, with Advanced Proficiency (reading/speaking/listening, writing) level 3-plus in English and the foreign target language, as assessed by the International Language Roundtable (ILR) scale. <br>5. Translate, edit, and/or transcribe following the government client’s style guides and quality standards.<br>6. Use domain-specific terminology. <br>7. Review and certify other translators’ work quality, as needed.<br>8. Highly proficient in MS Office, with the ability to mirror source document format in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.<br>9. Familiar with the use of CAT tools, such as Trados Studio.</div><div> <br><strong>​Requirements</strong><br><br> </div><div> <strong>1. A U.S. citizen willing to undergo a U.S. government background check to obtain a Public Trust Clearance</strong>. </div><div>2. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.<br>3. At least 3 years of experience in legal documentation, translating, and/or editing between English and a foreign language.<br>4. At least 3 years of experience performing audio transcription with the ability to use software to enhance sound and equipment to aid in transcription.<br>5. Familiar with legal terminology in both English and the target foreign language(s).<br>6. Proficient in Microsoft Office.<br>7. Translators and editors must proficiently use CAT tools, such as Trados.</div><div></div> </div>
